Does it really matter what the town of Union's input really is? If it aligns with what the city of Evansville wants then they are in agreement. When has the city ever respectfully listened and implemented anything the town of Union has every tried to convey?
I have sat at city of Evansville meetings, where town of Union government members have explained why certain annexation should not happen for logical reasons.
They were ignored, why would this be any different? The city only cares about taking more of the town of Union and making it city of Evansville. I understand the landowners are also to blame, but the city needs to show some restraint.
I'm glad the new housing market has stopped, otherwise, I think Evansville would have another two or three more large subdivisions on the westside, where prime farmland now sits.
The city of Evansville is ohhhhh so green. Send out fliers, put up stuff on the city website, tell the whole world how carbon neutral you are, just don't tell it to the farmlands you've stolen from the town of Union and created newly discovered floodplains. Maybe if you would have walked over and looked for yourself instead of trusting crooked developers, FEMA would not have to point out the obvious.
Working with the city of Evansville on future land use issues is an oxymoron.
Kudos to the town of Union for realizing that quality farm land is finite and protecting it, and two thumbs down to the city of Evansville for pretending to care.
