Ground Rules and Questions for School Board Candidate Forum----Feb 3rd, 10AM--EHS Media Room

Candidate Forum Ground Rules and Questions
Ground Rules
  • Candidates please arrive at High School at 9:30 on February 3rd so that we have time for set-up and introductions
  • The organizers will make short opening remarks and introduce the candidates to the public at 10 AM to be followed by the forum itself
  • Each question will be read by one of the organizers who will then draw names at random to determine response order.
  • The candidate whose name is drawn will step to the lectern to address the question.
  • Candidates will be allowed a maximum of three minutes to respond to each question. A sign will be given at 2.5 minutes and a bell will ring when time has expired. Please respect the time limits.
  • The questions will be presented in the order below. You may use notes of any sort including full written responses to help you with your presentation
  • The organizers hope that candidates will remain after the forum to meet the public in attendance. We have the room reserved for sufficient time to do this.
The Questions
  1. You have each chosen to take on the difficult and rewarding task of running for the Evansville School Board. Please share with us the top two reasons you wish to serve.
  1. The School Board is asked to respond to the needs, wants and demands of many stakeholders in the district. Who is the primary Ă¢€œcustomerĂ¢€ of the school board and why?
  1. We read each week of the competing demands placed on the school district and upon the board. Please focus on those that you consider to be the top two issues facing the board after the election and how you would balance them with the remaining issues.
  1. There are six candidates to fill two seats. Why should the voters of the district hire you? What skills and experiences will you bring to the board making you the best candidate for the position?
